Intaglio Etching & Aquatint ($145.00)
In this workshop students will learn about the etching process - a method utilized by artists as diverse as Albrecht Durer to Jasper Johns and Kiki Smith. Working with a variety of etching and engraving tools provided by the instructor, students will learn how to coat a piece of copper in an acid-resistant ground, draw into the copper to craft an image, etch the plate using ferric chloride acid, and then finally how to ink, wipe and print a series of 5 prints. While the steps of this process may be numerous, in practice etching is both approachable and beautifully rewarding. All materials provided.
Duration of Workshop: 6 hours (2 3-hour sessions during consecutive weekends)
